Day 1 Blagnac/Toulouse
Arrive in Toulouse. Panoramic tour and discovery of the
main
monuments of Toulouse. Check in at your hotel. Night in
Toulouse.
Day 2 Carcassonne/Albi
This morning, discover the largest fortified city of Europe:
Carcassonne, classified World Heritage site since 1997.
After
a boat ride on the Canal du Midi arrive in Albi. Visit
of the ‘old town’ and of the Cathedral, a typical
example of southern Gothic architecture. Night in Albi.
Day 3 Cordes sur Ciel/Cahors/Rocamadour
Depart for the little village of Cordes- sur-Ciel, a secret
and
magical mediaeval town. On to St Antonin Noble Val in the
Aveyron gorges to arrive in the Cahors vineyards. Visit
of a
wine storehouse followed by wine tasting. Lunch in Cahors
and exploration of the town. In the afternoon, we reach
Rocamadour, an ancient pilgrimage town with its impressive
belvedere that dominates the Alzou canyon. Night in
Rocamadour.
Day 4 Dordogne valley/Sarlat/Lascaux II
Today we head towards the Dordogne. Visit of two villages
classified as “most beautiful of France”. Lunch
in Sarlat, one
of the only French towns that has remained intact since
the
XVIIth century. Then, plunge back 50.000 years as you
visit the “Sistine Chapel” of prehistory, the
Lascaux II Cave.
Night in Montignac.
Day
5 Périgueux/Angoulême/Cognac/Saintes
After a tour in Périgueux, we drive towards easy-living
Angoulême. Lunch in Angoulême. This afternoon
is
dedicated to world famous ‘Cognac’ that you
will discover in
a famous distillery. Finally, visit of Saintes, ancient
capital of the roman province of Aquitaine, and where one
can still
admire numerous monuments of that period. Night in
Saintes.
Day 6 Marais Poitevin/Île de Ré/La
Rochelle
This morning immerse yourself in total greenery, amidst
silence and nature, and take pleasure in an unforgettable
ride on board a typical, local, rowboat of the ‘Poitevin
swamps’. Lunch in the area. The ‘nature’ adventure
continues on one of the most well-conserved islands of
France: l’Île de Ré. In the afternoon
we reach La Rochelle, a typical
example of classical architecture in a port city. Night
in La Rochelle.
Day 7 Saint Emilion/Bordeaux
Today we head towards the Bordeaux region by way of the
famous
UNESCO classified town of Saint Emilion. Not only is
the
town renowned for its wines, it is also home to an unusual
network of underground troglodyte dwellings . Lunch and
depart for the city of Bordeaux. Visit of the city and
exploration
of the main monuments with free time to stroll around one
of
Europe’s largest shopping districts. Night in Bordeaux.
Day 8 St Macaire/Agen/Auvillar/Moissac
Following the Garonne valley, we visit two medieval villages:
Cadillac (that gave its name to the famous car) and St
Macaire. As we continue towards Agen, admire incredible
Auvillar. Before arriving in Toulouse, we'll visit
the world
famous tympanum of Moissac abbey, a masterpiece
of
Romanesque art. Night in Toulouse.
Day 9 Toulouse
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. End of our services.
