Bagnères-de-Luchon is an established spa resort in the Pyrenees about 90 minutes south of Toulouse. Known as the "Reine des Pyrénées" it regularly hosts a stage of the Tour de France as well as a renowned Film & TV festival. The Pyrenees rise in an impressive 3000 metre wall behind the town.

 

The ski resort at Luchon is called Superbagnères and it's perched on an 1800 metre shelf just above the town. An 8-minute long ride in a télécabine whisks skiers up from the 19th century grandeur of Luchon's main street to the white silence of the high Pyrenees.
