Chamrousse
Olympic
ski resort overlooking Grenoble
Short

slopes - a cheap ski break in a quality French resort.
Closest
ski resort to Grenoble
The
resort of Chamrousse is perched on a ledge on
the mighty Belladonna Massif which dominates the town
of Grenoble: across the valley is the bulk of the Chartreuse
and to the west the Vercors Massif. Small wonder that
this remarkable location, with its renowned sunsets,
was chosen as the site of the 1966 Winter Olympics.
Chamrousse
remains a favourite ski destination for UK and Irish
skiers thanks to its proximity to a Ryanair/easyJet
airport, its good skiing... and fabulous sunsets! This
airport
proximity makes Chamrousse ideal for short ski breaks.
Chamrousse has
remained a mid-sized family resort despite the tendency
towards 'always
bigger' in the Alps. It has invested in all
'board' activities with plenty of space allotted to Freestyle, Snowboard
and Big Air.
The ski terrain covers 530 hectares with 46 runs of
all levels: 8 green, 16 blue, 14 red and 8 black
(including the fearsome 'Olympic Men's Downhill'
where
local boy Jean-Claude Killy won gold in 1966).
10 chair-lifts, 12 tow-skis and 1 téléphérique.
1 snow park, 1 bigair, 1 border cross and 1 half-pipe.
