Located on the Atlantic coast between La
Rochelle to the south and Nantes to the north, Port-Bourgenay
is a car-free holiday village set in parkland of 85 hectares
between the ocean and pine woods. It is a real village with
restaurants and shops situated around a lake and a 18 hole
golf course. The beach is accessible by foot or by means of
a miniature train.
A few miles to the North is the bustling seaside
resort of les Sables de l'Olonne and it, like the nearby fishing
port of St Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, are meccas for seafood enthusiasts
who dream of heaped plates of oysters, crab and lobster fresh
from the sea accompanied by a local tangy white wine.
 Children are especially well catered for at
Port Bourgenay with a team of experienced youthleaders ready
to look after them in clubs adapted to their ages. They will
also be thrilled by visits to Richard the Lionheart's castle
(11th century) in the local village.
We recommend flying into Nantes or La Rochelle (Ryanair
flights from Dublin, Stansted and Shannon) and we will arrange
a hire car for you at the airport.
