From Grasse to St Paul de Vence : discover
the arrière pays of the French Riviera
The French Riviera, extending from Fréjus to the
principality of Monaco, is not just a long beach with golden
sands and blue waters. (In fact its often rocky coves and
pebbly beaches). The real Riviera is the strip of foothills
just 15 to 20 kilometres back from the coast: a jumble of
rocky hillsides, vineyards, lavender fields and old stone
villages poking up above the maquis.
