your choice, accommodation reserved for you in advance in country
inns or guesthouses ... and a 'suggested itinerary' mapped out
for you. You can stick to our suggestions (they are based on
years of experience and actually living here!) or just use the
programme
as a rough guide. You can be between one and five people, as
you wish.

Understanding Lourdes means understanding
the life of Bernadette Soubirous, the girl who met the Virgin
Mary while out gathering firewood for her poor family. The town
of Lourdes is full of clues: from the old streets, the nearby
rocky countryside to the grotto of Massabielle itself.
But Lourdes is more than a pilgrims' centre: it is
a magical city surrounded by the wooded valleys and mountains of
the Pyrenees. Our break includes a hire car so that you can explore
the region by driving up to the 'Cirque to Gavarnie' - an extraordinary
natural amphitheatre of rock, water and snow - or to the mighty
Tourmalet Pass where the Tour de France passes regularly.
Another day out not to miss is a visit to the 'Pic
du Midi', a rocky mountaintop of over 3000 metres housing an Astronomy
observation post. Access is by cable-car from La Mongie ski resort
or the Tourmalet Pass.
Accommodation in Lourdes:
Our sef-catering studios and 2 roomed apartments are located in
a brand new residence over-looking the river and away from the
immediate bustle of the town. A short ten minute walk (500 metres)
from the Sanctuary and main sites, the Residence is suitable for
guests of reduced mobility.
All the apartments are fully furnished. Equipped
kitchens include dishwasher (in the 2-room), coffee-maker, toaster,
2 hobs, combined grill/microwave.
Bathroom with bathtub.
Bed linen supplied. Satellite TV, broadband connection, air-conditioning.
