Quercy Landscapesa 5 day horse-riding break
Discover deepest France - the Quercy region between the Lot and Garonne river valleys
Based in a luxurious chateau-hotel set in its wooded estate in the rolling Quercy countryside this horse-riding break appeals to both families and small groups of riders. 3 full days of riding are included accompanied by our experienced english-speaking guide.
The 5 day programme looks something like this:
Day 1: Arrive and check in at the Chateau-hotel. You will meet your guide, Michel, at 8pm for dinner. Overnight in chateau.
Day
2: After breakfast you will join up with Michel
for the allocation of the horses. Over the next three days you
will be riding primarily through areas of mixed farmland - sunflower
fields, maize and soya; plum orchards and chestnut forests. Your
first day's ride takes you to the mediaeval village of montaigu-de-Quercy.
This is a splendid example of a mediaeval village with its typical
half-timbered, white stone houses unique to the Quercy region.
Enjoy lunch in the village before continuing the ride.
Day 3: Today's ride takes you west to the Foie Gras museum located in a typical farm of the region. Here, in the heart of the Occitan region, the owners of the farm continue to breed ducks and geese for the production of all those wonderful culinary delights that makes France famous: foie gras, magret de canard, confit d'oie and so on. A visit to the farm and museum precedes lunch when you will have an opportunity to try some of the delicious products prepared here. Ride back to the chateau to enjoy a swim in the pool or just relax before another gourmet dinner. Overnight in Chateau.
Day 4: The last day's ride takes
you to the fortified town of Tournon
Day 5: after breakfast; end of our services
