French cuisine based in a Gascony farmhouse

What better place to learn a few culinary tips
and tricks than in deepest Gascony - home to France's rich
cooking culture.
We offer two residential courses:
SHORT BREAK : arrive Sunday depart Wednesday.
Two full days of activities: buying local produce at the
market with your hostess, hands-on cooking classes, tasting
of different dishes.
Price: € 550 pp - 3 nights full-board, classes and activities,
hire car from airport included.
ONE WEEK : arrive Sunday depart Saturday. 4 days of full activities - markets, cooking classes, tastings followed by two free days to explore Gascony.
Price: €1050 pp - 6 nights full-board,
classes and activities, hire car from airport included.
The farmhouse : a 19th century
stone farmhouse, with plenty of original features, located
in a little village
nestled between the sunflower fields and the beautiful pine
forests of the Landes de Gascogne.
Your hostess is Marlène, who runs her courses
in English or French, and who insists that all guests leave
her house with a basic understanding of French cuisine and
a
mastery of the fundemental techniques used in the making
of mayonnaise, omelette, pâté, quiche, gravy,
confit and various stews and gratins, without using
any measuring instrument.
The courses are restricted to four participants
to allow everyone the necessary individual attention.
Sunday: participants arrive (from Bordeaux,
Bergerac or Toulouse airport or the TGV station at Agen or
Bordeaux) and settle
into the house and their room. After an apéritif with canapés
dinner is served.
Monday and Wednesday mornings
are spent with a local producer choosing the raw materials
for the day's lessons. Lunch is
prepared and eaten together and the afternoon is spent in
the kitchen. Apéritif and dinner.
Tuesday is market day in the local town so the morning is
spent choosing the best seasonal offerings for the day's
lesson.
Thursday and Friday afternoons are free to discover the region:
the Armagnac towns of Condom and Eauze; the Three Musketeer
country, the forest of the Landes, the Atlantic coast and
the dune of Pyla, Bordeaux city, the Bordeaux vineyards.
