Day 4 : Tarn Gorges & Larzac

 

Morning at your leisure.

Leave your hotel for a walking tour in the Corniches du Larzac cliffs, giving you endless views of the Millau Viaduct , the highest cable-stayed bridge in the world. This fabulous structure sets off wonderfully one of the most beautiful areas of countryside in Southern France. On the other side are the impressive archaic landscapes of the great causses, flocks of sheep grazing on the Larzac. Hike through the Grands Causses Natural Regional Park classified as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Day 5 : Tarn Gorges

 

Pick up at your hotel and drive over the Jontes Gorges to get to the plateau Méjean for a visit of the Aven Armand cavern. Discover in 1897, the cavern comprises an enormous space into which one could place the entire church of Notre Dame de Paris ! Over 400 stalagmites dot the cave, some reaching up to 30 meters.

You will follow the course of the Tarn River for 50 kilometers, the Tarn Gorges are the deepest gorges to be found in Europe. Perhaps the best of all views is at "Point Sublime" from Saint-Georges-de-Lévéjac which has very far reaching views down the canyon, with cliffs on both sides soaring to over 500 meters. Discover many scenic villages such as Sainte Enimie, Saint Chely du Tarn and Pougnadoires a village built onto a cliff.
