How it works

This private tour around the French and Spanish sides of the Basque Country is for parties of 2 to 6 people of friends or family that get together. Fix your dates at any time of the year and we'll take care of the rest :

Travel in air-conditioned minivan with a qualified, English- or Spanish-speaking driver-guide with accommodation in carefully selected boutique hotels.


This private tour takes you to discover the French and Spanish Basque Country with its typical villages and architecture. You will enjoy some tastings of local specialities such as the original Bayonne ham or the Basque chocolate. Guided tours in English or Spanish of Biarritz, Bayonne, St Jean-de-Luz, Espelette & San Sebastian.


Day 1: Bayonne & Biarritz

Pick up in Bordeaux and drive South to the Basque Region.
Stop in Bayonne, the Basque Country capital and discover its characteristic arcades, facades of stone, half- timbered houses and Sainte-Marie Cathedral.
You will visit the “Atelier du Jambon” where you will learn about the techniques for preparing and smoking the famous “Jambon de Bayonne”.
You will have a tasting session at the end of your visit.
Then you will retrace the fabulous history of chocolate with l’Atelier du Chocolat. From the tropical forests, where the cacao tree grows, to the windows on the production line where you can see the confectioners making the chocolatiers’ specialties. At the end of your visit, you will taste different chocolates from around the world.
Later this afternoon, arrival in Biarritz and guided walking tour of the City.
What was once primarily a whaling town centered around Port Vieux (the old port), has become a trendy destination ever since Napoleon III and his Spanish-born wife Eugénie arrived during the mid-19th century. It’s been a glamorous spot ever since, lined with elegant villas and listed residences that glitter with belle époque and art deco details.

Day 2: St Jean de Luz & Traditional Villages

This day is dedicated to the discovery of the French Basque Country : Visit of St Jean de Luz Coastal Town and the small villages of Sare, Espelette and Ainhoa.
Your tour this morning will take you to the traditional Basque town of Saint Jean de Luz. Stroll through the streets of this legendary port town, home to many famous French Buccaneers. Enjoy a guided walking tour and visit the major attractions of the town including the magnificent Church of St John the Baptist, with its fabulous baroque altar, and in which the sun King Louis XIV married the infant of Spain.
After the visit of Saint Jean de Luz, head inland to visit some of the most beautiful villages of the region. Begin with Aïnhoa, a quaint little village located in the interior of the French Basque province of Labourd, that is formed by a main street full of incredibly beautiful Basque style houses.
After lunch, your next stops will include the village of Espelette famous for its walls disappearing under scarlet rows of hot pepper! Do not miss the Atelier du Piment & its Peppermaster tells the story of hot pepper and how it is used in multiple ways for cooking and invites you to taste some specialties of the Basque Country.
Back to Biarritz & overnight.

Day 3: San Sebastian

Breakfast at your hotel & Check out.
Transfer to San Sebastian.
Guided walking tour of the old town. You will discover the old Quarter, rich with historical treasures and its narrow, cobbled streets, specialty shops & local market of Brexta. Your will discover the Plaza de la Constitucion with its beautiful arcades & balconies.
You are now convened for a unique guided Pintxos tasting tour in the heart of the old town of San Sebastian.
Your guide knows exactly where to go for the best, freshest, and most exciting local pintxos. You will also be introduced to a culinary feast as you go from place to place experiencing the local culture with food ranging from molecular and modern to comforting and traditional, there is something for everyone…
Settle in your hotel in San Sebastian & overnight.

Day 4: Bilbao & The Guggenheim Museum

Breakfast at your hotel.
Transfer to Bilbao.
Today you will visit one of the world’s finest buildings - the Guggenheim Museum with a private guide. This tour offers an opportunity to explore the exhibitions of the museum and to discover contemporary and modern art masterpieces.
Then you will explore the city of Bilbao which dazzles with style and energy and boasts a unique identity. Bilbao is also a “foodie” stop and is known for its inventive Basque cuisine.
Your day in Bilbao will also be an opportunity to experience Bacalao dishes, based on cod, merluza, or hake.
Back to San Sebastian in the afternoon & overnight at your hotel.
