Day 3: Rocamadour - St-Cirq-Lapopie & Toulouse

 

 

 

Pick up at your hotel by your driver and guide and transfer to Rocamadour.
Visit of the town of Rocamadour, a monumental ensemble dating from the 11th to the 19th century set on the side of a cliff, with seven chapels and a thousand-year old religious history. It is an active pilgrimage site all year round.
Next go to the Borie d'Imberg, a cheese farm. Enjoy an educational visit and some delicious AOC Rocamadour cheese tasting. In the heart of the Natural Regional Parc of the Causses du Quercy come discover the history of this region and its agricultural riches.
Follow with a delightful drive up the Lot valley to St-Cirq-Lapopie, classified as one of 'most beautiful villages of France' clings on to the cliff face overhanging the Lot River. The narrow cobbled streets are lined with very beautiful half-timbered stone and wood houses dating from the 13th to 16th centuries.
Back to Toulouse.

Day 4: Departure

 

Depending on the time of your flight, we suggest a visit (guided or on your own) of Toulouse's main monuments:
The Capitole: current City Hall and National Theatre are housed in this magnificent building on the square of the same name: the façade with its 8 columns of pink marble, the 'Salle des Illustres' inspired by the Galerie Farnese in Rome and the Henri IV courtyard must be seen.
The Saint-Sernin Basilica, largest romanesque church in Europe and compulsory halt on the pilgrims' way to Santiago de Compostella.
The Jacobins, founded in the 13th and 14th centu-ries, this beautiful monastery made entirely of brick is an excellent example of Languedocian Gothic architecture. The tomb of St Thomas Aquinas has a privileged position in the main church.
Transfer to Toulouse airport.
