This tour is a delightful combination of French gastronomy with a hands on cooking class given by a chef on the topic of the Foie Gras, and the discovery of the South West of France with visits of Toulouse, Cahors and St-Cirq-Lapopie, known as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

 

Groups must be established before contacting us (9 participants minimum). If you are less than 9, we organise Private & Shared Tours.

Saint Sernin Basilica Toulouse

Day 1 : Toulouse & St-Beauzeil

 

Arrival in Toulouse.

Visit of the main monuments of Toulouse: The Capitol, Henri IV courtyard, the Donjon du Capitole (outside), the reception rooms of the Hotel de Ville (if open) with the Wedding Room. Saint-Sernin Basilica (except the crypt), the largest Romanesque church in France. The Jacobins church, surprising Gothic building fully painted, which houses the famous 'palm tree' and the tomb of St. Thomas of Aquin. The two courtyards of the hôtel de Bernuy, beautiful Renaissance building built in the sixteenth century by a wealthy merchant of Pastel (flower which gave an indelible blue colour).

On to St-Beauzeil for a welcome cocktail & dinner and overnight in your hotel.


Hands on cooking class

Day 2 : St-Beauzeil - Cooking class

 

Breakfast buffet followed by a hands on cooking class with Guy Hérault, Grand Chef. Topic : Foie Gras. 

For lunch, you taste the 'fruit of your labour'.

Right after, head off to the Lacay Farm, small producer of prunes. Tasting of various products. Then departure to Frespech and visit of the Foie Gras and Cathar Museum. Tasting.

Dinner & overnight in Saint-Beauzeil.


St Cirq Lapopie

Day 3: Saint-Beauzeil - Cahors - St-Cirq-Lapopie

 

Departure for Cahors.

Visit of the city and the famous bridge : Le Pont Valentré.

Visit and tasting at the Chateau Lagrezette, famous for its vintage "Le Pigeonnier" which has been for 10 years one of the jewels of the domain. This is a 100% Malbec wine whose vineyards are 25 years old and are planted on clay and limestone ground on the third terraces of the Lot, on a land of high quality surrounded by stone walls. sold in France, this wine of a beautiful complexity enjoys a solid reputation in the United States, Japan and Britain.

Then departure for St-Cirq-Lapopie, a charming village perched on a cliff overlooking the banks of nearly 100 m, it is one of the major sites of the Lot valley. Several castles and fortified houses create the city walls and dominate the village. Below, the sloping streets of the village, enclosed by fortified gates, have preserved many old houses with stone facades (thirteenth century).

Back to Toulouse.
