Day 8 : Nimes, Uzès, Pont du Gard, Gordes, Roussillon

Guided visit of Nîmes :
The important monuments are the impressive Roman buildings, with the three main constructions:
▪ the Arena, the best-conserved Roman amphitheatre in the world, the amphitheatre, 2000 years old and the best preserved Roman arena in France, it could hold more than 24,000 spectators. (still used today for bullfighting).
▪ the Maison Carrée, the main temple of the Gallo-Roman city. The Maison Carrée, an exceptionally fine Roman temple.

Continue to Gordes, discover this tophill medieval village, completly made with the local dry stones called 'lauze', classified among one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Day 7 : Orange, Chateauneuf, St Remy de Provence, les Baux de Provence, Arles
Departure to Orange, a World Heritage site. City of art and history, Orange is outstanding for its exceptional historical heritage. As soon as you come inside the gates you will find yourself in the midst of Roman civilization with the Arch of Triumph (three arches) standing majestically over the city ; Continue to Châteauneuf du Pape for visit and wine-tasting in a Domaine in Châteauneuf du Pape
Continue to St Remy de Provence,«Les Antiques», the Grecian and Roman archaeological ruins of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
Les Baux-de-Provence, superb stone fortress labelled as "one of the most beautiful villages in France".
Arles city sightseeing. Arles is noted for the wealth of its Roman and Romanesque heritage.

Day 6 – Rasteau, Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise and Avignon
.This morning, en route for Rasteau, Gigondas and Beaume de Venise. Visit to a wine grower for a tasting of his wines and tour to Beaumes de Venise, located at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail. You will enjoy a nice meal in Beaumes de Venise.
In the afternoon, you will discover Avignon with its breathtaking Palace of the Popes. The skyline of Avignon is a magnificent urban landscape. Overlooking the city and the Rhône river, the Rocher des Doms presents an exceptional set of monuments including the Saint Bénezet Bridge, (the famous « Pont d’Avignon »), the Ramparts, the Petit Palais, the Cathedral and the impressive walls of the Popes’ Palace flanked by four mighty towers. This architectural group has been ranked by UNESCO as «world heritage for humanity ». Overnight in Avignon.

Day 3 – Paris, Lyon
Transfer to the TGV station Paris Gare de Lyon, which will lead you to the beautiful city of Lyon, where your personal guide will welcome you at the station. A welcome dinner will be organised to celebrate the beginning of your journey.
Day 4 – Lyon
After breakfast, your guide will invite you to a walking trip of the Old City of Lyon. It is the city's oldest district and one of Europe's most extensive. Renaissance neighbourhoods. You will enjoy the St Jean Quarter, as much as the hôtels particuliers, beautiful residences built by italian merchants in the 15th and 16th century. Stroll with your guide in the «traboules», covered narrow lanes crossing buildings from one street to the other. Visit to the St Jean Cathedral and its astronomical clock.
Lunch in a bouchon of Lyon, a typical restaurant where you will appreciate the local cuisine and friendliness of inhabitants.
Free afternoon to wander in the streets of Lyon.

Day 5 – Vienne and the Côtes du Rhône
You will depart southwards with your guide towards Vienne and the vineyards of Côte du Rhône. Stop at Vienne to discover the Gallo-roman town. Visit the Auguste and Livie temple and the roman theatre. It is the most important archaeological theatre of the Antiquity period. With a diameter of 130 metres, in which about 13,000 spectators could sit and is considered as one of the most important from the Roman Antiquity. You will visit the archaeological site of Saint-Romain-en-Gal: a 3 sqm national heritage presenting an ancient district of the city of Vienne.

You will then discover the northern vineyards of « Côtes du Rhône », as well as Condrieu, Ampuis and Côte Rôtie. Stop by a wine grower to discover his domain and taste local wines in his cellar.
