Brittany
: Rochefort-en-Terre

Rochefort is a small medieval town overlooking
a valley, which owes the exceptional quality of its architecture
to a past steeped in art and history.
Rochefort-en-Terre
is one of Brittany's most famous towns. The incredible
floral decorations on its 16th and 17th century
dwellings has won the town the highest ranking as a 'flowered
village of France'. Rochefort-en-terre is the flagship of
the "small Breton towns with character".
Here you can discover:
• The Grande rue (magnificent 16th, 17th
and 18th century homes, art galleries, gourmet restaurants)
• Ancient
buildings such as the Wash house,
the Roadside Cross, chapels and fortified city
gates
• The medieval castle (12th century)
• The Collegiate church of Our Lady of Tronchaye (12th
and 16th centuries), one of the region's most beautiful churches
Nearby
you'll find the Prehistoric Park, on the superb Ardoisières
site. This place is full of mystery with its blue lakes,
old quarries and astonishing vegetation.
Rochefort
en Terre is located on a picturesque site between the forest
of Brocéliande, Malestroit and la Roche
Bernard ... and there's lots more to see in the area.
