1930's 'CASINO' weekend in Biarritz

Stay
in the art déco Plaza, dine in the 30's Casino, listen
to a Jazz quintet - in an intimate Biarritz weekend for 2.
Biarritz,
turn-of-the-century seaside resort on the basque Coast, has one
of the finest casinos
in Europe. A splendid art déco
building, right on the Grand Plage, it oozes 1930's charm and decadence.
Our short weekend break marries an evening in this splendour with
an overnight in the neighbouring grand hotel, the Plaza, also an
art déco gem.
The programme:
Arrive in Biarritz airport around teatime on Friday. Taxi to the hotel (10
minutes) and settle into the Plaza. Out for your first look at the Grand Plage
with its powerful Atlantic rollers and intrepid surfers. Take a stroll along
the promenade with the beautiful people and have an aperitif at an outdoor
café just watching the world go by. Overnight in hotel
Saturday: all day to explore the town and its coast: the beaches, the fishing
port, the Aquarium... Your evening starts in the bar of the Plaza where a 5-piece
jazz band plays every Saturday night. Then you can move on - across the road
- to the Casino restaurant - le Baccara - where your table awaits you with
a fine menu of Basque specialities, wine included. After the meal you can have
a flutter on the casino tables - where you have exclusive entrée - or
get back to the Jazz band at the Plaza or seek out the rest of the Biarritz
night-life.

On Sunday you can explore the town, its maritime
museum, rugged coastline, fishing port, seafood restaurants and
sandy coves. Taxi back to the airport for 6pm departure.
